NEW DELHI, July 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday handed out over 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates across various Central government departments and organisations, as part of the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela. The mass recruitment initiative was conducted simultaneously at 47 locations across India via video conferencing.

The latest Rozgar Mela continues the government’s commitment to employment generation under the larger mission to strengthen public service delivery and ensure timely recruitment. Launched in October 2022, the Rozgar Mela initiative has so far issued more than 10 lakh appointment letters across the country.

Addressing the new appointees, PM Modi congratulated the recruits and highlighted their critical role in diverse sectors. “Today, over 51,000 youth have been given appointment letters. These individuals are now contributing significantly to nation-building. Through such employment initiatives, lakhs of youth have secured permanent jobs in the Indian government,” he stated.

The recruits will join several key ministries and departments, including Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Posts, Financial Services, and Labour and Employment. PM Modi noted that while each recruit’s department may differ, the unifying focus remains service to the nation and the principle of “Citizen First.”

“Many of you will contribute to the Indian Railways, others will join our security forces, postal services, healthcare mission, and financial institutions. Whether it is education, industry, or infrastructure, your work will directly impact the development of the country,” he added.

Emphasising India’s demographic advantage, the Prime Minister said, “India has the largest youth population and the largest democracy. This is our greatest strength. Our government is working day and night to turn this strength into a force for progress.”

Reflecting on his recent five-nation diplomatic tour, PM Modi noted that India’s youth potential was widely recognised internationally. “The agreements signed during my visit will open up new opportunities for our young population,” he said.

The Rozgar Mela aims to not only fill vacancies efficiently but also to support ongoing efforts in modernising and strengthening key public service institutions such as schools, hospitals, railway stations, police departments, and revenue offices. The initiative is central to the government’s effort to ensure employment remains a core part of the governance agenda and India’s broader development vision.
