NEW DELHI, Oct 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi described India as a “ray of hope” in a world filled with uncertainties during his address at the NDTV World Summit 2024 on Monday, expressing confidence in the nation’s potential to lead and inspire amid challenging times.
Modi pointed out that recent years have been characterized by widespread concerns, such as the effects of COVID-19, issues with global supply chains, conflicts, climate change, and rising unemployment. He stated, “Despite all the discussions, worries, and tensions, today we are discussing the Indian century,” highlighting that India has become a symbol of hope amidst global instability.
The Prime Minister detailed notable accomplishments during the first 125 days of the NDA government’s third term, including the approval of 3 crore houses for the underprivileged and infrastructure projects valued at ₹9 lakh crore. He mentioned the introduction of 15 new Vande Bharat trains and the initiation of construction on eight new airports. Additionally, rooftop solar systems have been installed in 500,000 homes, and the “Ek Pedh Maa ke Naam” initiative has led to the planting of 90 crore trees. Modi also noted that the Sensex and Nifty have increased by 6 to 7 percent, with foreign exchange reserves surpassing $700 billion.
He emphasized that the pursuit of success continues, asserting that India’s youth represent a significant resource for future advancement. “For this, we have a lot of work to do now, and we have to do it quickly,” he remarked, indicating that the true measure of success lies not only in what has been achieved but also in setting new goals.
Discussing artificial intelligence (AI), Modi said, “In this era of AI, India has double AI… When Aspirational India meets Artificial Intelligence, it doubles the pace of development.” He announced the launch of the India AI Mission to boost AI implementation across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and MSMEs.
Modi affirmed that the world takes pride in India’s achievements, recognizing that the nation’s growth will benefit all. He reiterated that India has always been a positive contributor to global growth and development.
