AYODHYA, Nov 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held a massive roadshow to the Ram Janmabhoomi temple complex in Ayodhya ahead of the ‘Dhwajarohan’ (flag hoisting) ceremony, marking the formal completion of the temple’s construction. The Prime Minister also offered prayers at the newly constructed Sapt Mandir within the complex before proceeding to the main ceremonial event.
Modi received an overwhelming welcome along the route, with thousands of residents, devotees, women, and youths lining the streets, showering flower petals and waving the tricolour and BJP flags. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel received the Prime Minister at the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport earlier in the day.
“Landed in Ayodhya to take part in the Dhwajarohan Utsav at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir!” Modi wrote on Facebook, signalling the start of the day’s events.
After the roadshow, Modi visited the Sapt Mandir, which houses temples dedicated to revered figures such as Maharshi Vashishtha, Maharshi Vishwamitra, Maharshi Agastya, Maharshi Valmiki, Devi Ahilya, Nishadraj Guha, and Mata Shabari.
The ‘Abhijit Muhurat’ for the flag hoisting is scheduled shortly after 11:50 AM. The Prime Minister is set to hoist a 10-feet-high and 20-feet-long saffron triangular flag featuring the radiant Sun symbol of Lord Ram, an ‘Om’, and the sacred Kovidara tree. The flag will be mounted atop a shikhar built in the traditional Nagara architectural style.
The ceremony coincides with the auspicious Panchami of the Shukla Paksha in Margashirsha, aligning with Ram and Sita’s Vivah Panchami—a day symbolising divine union—making the event spiritually significant, the PMO said.
