KANGPOKPI, Nov 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday virtually laid the foundation stone for a new Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Songpejang village under Sadar Hills West in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district. The district-level ceremony was led by Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS.

Speaking at the event, Chaudhari described the launch as a major milestone for the district, noting that Kangpokpi already houses one EMRS at Sapormeina. He said the new school would be a “game changer” for the region, helping uplift academic standards and foster healthy competition among educational institutions. Highlighting the success of the Sapormeina EMRS, he expressed optimism that the upcoming institution would further strengthen educational opportunities for tribal students.
