NEW DELHI, April 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to chair a second Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting tomorrow, as India looks to determine its next move against Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
The attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people, has sparked national outrage, with accusations that Pakistan-backed terrorists were behind the assault. As tensions escalate, the CCS is expected to review options, including potential retaliatory measures, as Pakistan denies any involvement and warns of a strong response to India’s actions.

In response to the attack, the CCS has already taken steps, including suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, accusing Pakistan of violating its provisions. Additionally, all Pakistani nationals—except those holding diplomatic, official, or long-term visas—have been ordered to leave India by April 29. The government has also vowed to bring the perpetrators and their supporters to justice. In parallel, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan convened a meeting with top security officials to assess the internal security situation and prepare for further developments.

The meeting, attended by key figures including Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), National Security Guard (NSG), and Assam Rifles, focused on tightening border security, enhancing counter-terror capabilities, and strengthening intelligence sharing. This move reflects India’s determination to ensure safety and respond decisively to the evolving threat perception in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack.
