SENAPATI, Feb 25: A poppy destruction drive was conducted on Wednesday, at Sadim Hill Range under Senapati Police Station as part of intensified anti-narcotics efforts in the district.
The operation was carried out under the initiative of the Senapati District Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF). It was conducted under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police (NH-2), who is also the Nodal Officer of ANTF, and under the overall supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Senapati.
The combined team was led by the Additional SP (NH-2) and assisted by the SDPO–SPT. Personnel from Senapati Police Station, B-109, F-36, C-142 CRPF, 16 Assam Rifles, and an Executive Magistrate participated in the drive. Forest officials from the Senapati Forest Division provided drone support for aerial reconnaissance during the operation.
During the destruction drive, approximately eight acres of illicit poppy cultivation were destroyed. Additionally, two makeshift huts found at the site were burnt down. Pipes used for irrigation, one spray pump and one water container discovered at the location were also destroyed by burning.
The District ANTF stated that it will continue the destruction drive to eliminate illegal poppy cultivation and reiterated its strong resolve to sustain intensive anti-drug operations across the district.
