Poumai Naga Union and IRCS Extend Support to Fire Victims in Lower Koide Village

SENAPATI, Feb 5: A delegation from the Poumai Naga Union (PNU), led by its President, Eno RB Pani, visited Lower Koide Village on Wednesday to extend their support to the family of Eno Th. Danii, whose home was tragically destroyed in a fire on the early morning of February 3, 2025.

The fire, which broke out at approximately 1:30 AM, completely gutted the family’s home and all their belongings, resulting in an estimated loss of property worth around 60 lakhs. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and the family was unable to save anything as the incident occurred while the villagers were asleep.

Tragically, the family’s youngest son, Eno D. Rahavei, a Class 10 student at Naga Public School, succumbed to injuries sustained during the fire. Rahavei was rushed to the District Hospital in Senapati and later transferred to RIMS, Imphal, where he was declared dead.

During the visit, the PNU delegation expressed their profound grief over the incident. President Eno RB Pani described the situation as “heart-wrenching and unimaginable,” stating, “Nothing hurts me more than this incident, which has not only destroyed the family’s life savings but has also taken the precious life of a young, bright soul. This is a moment of immense grief for our community, and I appeal to all concerned citizens to stand in solidarity with the affected family during this difficult time.”

The officials also offered prayers for the recovery of Enoli Serou, the wife of Eno Th. Danii, who displayed extraordinary bravery during the incident. Despite being severely injured and burnt, Mrs. Serou attempted to rescue her son from the flames. Her selfless actions have deeply inspired the community, and the PNU delegation expressed their heartfelt wishes for her swift and complete recovery.

Eno Ng Joseph, Vice-President of the Poumai Naga Union, called for community unity in prayer and support for the bereaved family. He also emphasized the importance of collective efforts to prevent such tragedies in the future, stating, “The Office of the Poumai Naga Union prays that such incidents never occur again in our land.”

Eli Delilah Pao, President of the Poumai Naotumai Me (PNM), expressed her sadness, saying, “As a mother, I can feel the pain and anguish of the family. It is heartbreaking to see their home reduced to ashes and to witness the loss of a young life. We stand with the family in this hour of need and assure them of every possible assistance.”

The delegation also praised the swift response of the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Enoli Mamoni Doley, IAS, and Eno S Lunguiba Thangal, MCS, SDO/BDO Purul, who assured the family of all possible support. The officials also expressed gratitude to Eli Elizabeth Dziizii, Vice-President of the Senapati District Women Association (SDWA), for accompanying the delegation and showing solidarity.

In addition, Eno Dalounii Angam, President of Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), and Eno L Pule, President of Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me – Lepaona, also conveyed their condolences to the grieving family. Both leaders assured the family that the Poumai community stands united in support and emphasized the importance of community resilience in helping the family recover and rebuild.

The Poumai Naga Union and its affiliated organizations have pledged to offer all necessary assistance to the family as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding their lives. The delegation called on the broader community to unite and provide emotional, financial, and material support during this challenging time.

The PNU delegation concluded their visit by offering prayers for the departed soul and expressing hope that the family finds strength and solace amid their grief.

Meanwhile, The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Senapati District Branch also visited the affected family. The fire which broke out on February 3, completely destroyed the family’s home, including essential items such as paddy, cash, furniture, and clothing.

The IRCS Senapati branch team, which traveled approximately 40 km from the district headquarters to assess the situation, provided immediate relief to the surviving family members including blankets, kitchen utensils, hygiene kits, tarpaulins, and mosquito nets.
