President Murmu Confers National Teachers’ Award 2025 to Koijam Machasana of Manipur

New Delhi, September 5: President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Teachers’ Award 2025 on 45 distinguished educators from across India in a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Teachers’ Day. Among the awardees was Koijam Machasana from Manipur, recognised for her exceptional commitment to education and student development.

An Arts Graduate Teacher at Ghari Upper Primary School in Imphal West, Machasana hails from Keisampat, Imphal, and previously received the State Level Teachers’ Award in 2023. Her recognition at the national level marks a proud moment for Manipur’s education community.

In her address, President Murmu emphasized the critical role of teachers in shaping not just minds but the dignity and future of their students. Drawing from her own experience as a former educator, she said, “Education makes a person capable, and affectionate teachers give wings to children’s aspirations.”

She highlighted the importance of “smart teachers”—those who go beyond modern tools and truly understand the developmental needs of their students, making learning both effective and emotionally engaging.

The President noted that while smart boards and high-tech classrooms have their value, it is compassionate and attentive teachers who truly transform lives. “The biggest reward for teachers is when their students remember them throughout life and contribute positively to society and the nation,” she said.
