Private Hospitals in Manipur Resume Cashless PMJAY Treatment After Government Assurance

Imphal, August 13: Private hospitals in Manipur have decided to resume cashless treatment services for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) following assurances from the state government to clear pending dues. The announcement was made by the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI), Manipur Chapter, on Tuesday.

The decision came after a meeting between AHPI members and Manipur Health Commissioner Sumant Singh on Monday. During the discussions, the commissioner acknowledged the financial strain faced by hospitals due to prolonged non-payment of PMJAY claims and assured that the outstanding bills would be settled on priority. Special attention was promised for patients undergoing critical treatments such as dialysis.

AHPI had earlier, on August 5, suspended cashless services citing mounting unpaid bills and financial distress. The association said the government’s commitment to expedite reimbursements had prompted it to withdraw the suspension and continue providing cashless healthcare to PMJAY cardholders.

Reaffirming its commitment to patient welfare, AHPI stated it would work closely with the government to ensure uninterrupted, quality healthcare services in the state.
