Rahul Gandhi Links Rising Unemployment to ‘Vote Chori’

New Delhi, September 23: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday claimed that unemployment, the biggest problem facing India’s youth, is directly tied to what he described as “vote chori” (vote theft). He alleged that as long as elections are manipulated, corruption and joblessness will continue to rise unchecked.

In a post on X, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha asserted that a government’s foremost responsibility after winning people’s trust is to provide employment opportunities for the youth. However, he accused the BJP of remaining in power not through honest electoral victories but by “stealing votes and controlling institutions.”

“That’s why unemployment has reached a 45-year high, jobs are declining, recruitment processes have collapsed, and every exam paper leak is linked to corruption,” Gandhi said. He added that the Modi government has “shattered the hopes of the youth,” while focusing instead on “PR, celebrity endorsements, and billionaire profits.”

Sharing a video montage showing police lathi-charging job-seeking protesters juxtaposed with visuals of Prime Minister Narendra Modi planting saplings, feeding peacocks, and practising Yoga, Gandhi argued that the contrast reflects the government’s misplaced priorities.

According to him, India’s youth now realize the real fight is not just for jobs but also against electoral manipulation. “As long as elections are stolen, unemployment and corruption will keep rising,” he asserted, adding that young people will no longer tolerate either “job theft” or “vote theft.”

“The ultimate patriotism now lies in freeing India from unemployment and vote theft,” Gandhi concluded.
