Churachandpur, July 28: Manipur Police recovered Rs 39.33 lakh in cash during a follow-up operation tied to a major drug bust involving WY (methamphetamine) tablets in Churachandpur district.
The follow-up operation was conducted on July 22 at the residence of Thangmaljohh alias Hunter (35), son of Khomminthang, in Suangdoh/Enpum village. During the house search, police found the cash hidden inside a bag—just days after they had earlier recovered 10 tightly packed bundles of WY tablets labeled ‘999’ from the same suspect. The seized tablets are estimated to be worth around Rs 10 crore in the international market.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 03(07)2025 SGT-PS under Section 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Act, 2023, for further investigation, police added. Further investigation is ongoing.
