NEW DELHI, Nov 1: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has urged the Centre to reinstate the Manipur government, asserting that the state is gradually returning to normalcy and that peace and order can only be restored through the joint efforts of the government, society, and the Sangh.
Addressing the media after the RSS’s three-day annual meeting in Jabalpur, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said the people of Manipur “themselves want normal governance to resume.” He noted that it is up to the Centre to decide the appropriate time for reinstating the state government but emphasised that such a move would help strengthen public confidence and accelerate the peace process.
Describing Manipur as a “crucial and sensitive border state,” Hosabale said the situation there directly impacts the unity and security of the nation. He highlighted that RSS volunteers have been engaged in relief and peacebuilding efforts for nearly two years, focusing on bridging community divides, restoring trust, and fostering dialogue at the grassroots level.
“The government should be reinstated, and normal functioning should resume. The people are in favour of it, but the Centre must take a call on the timing,” Hosabale said, adding that lasting peace requires more than administrative action—it must come from collective community efforts.
He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur, calling it a strong message of commitment to restoring stability and healing the wounds of the affected communities. He also praised the central and local authorities for their ongoing relief work, urging continued cooperation between all stakeholders.
“Peace cannot be achieved through administrative measures alone,” Hosabale remarked. “Sustainable peace depends on the combined efforts of the government, the Sangh, and the society that understands the local realities.”
Hosabale concluded on an optimistic note, stating that Manipur is “moving in the right direction” and that the Sangh will continue to work quietly on the ground to strengthen reconciliation, rebuild confidence, and ensure lasting peace in the region.
