Imphal, September 4: Security forces in Manipur carried out a series of coordinated operations on September 3, resulting in the arrest of several insurgents and the recovery of contraband substances, vehicles, and communication devices.
In a major haul, personnel intercepted a Tata truck at New Keithelmanbi Police Pkt Point under Patsoi Police Station, Imphal West, and apprehended Khomdram Deben Meitei (43) of Bishnupur district. Around 184.13 kg of ganja, along with a mobile phone and SIM card, were seized from his possession.

Separately, two active cadres of KCP (PWG) — identified as Yumnam Surchandra Singh (35) alias Sur and Haorongbam Tomba Meetei (29) — were arrested from Lairenkabi village under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West.
Another insurgent, Kangujam Nongmaikhomba Meitei (50) of Basikhong in Imphal East, affiliated with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), was nabbed near his residence. Accused of extortion targeting the public, businessmen, schools, and colleges in Bishnupur, he was found with a purple-coloured Activa scooter (MN 01C 3338) and two SIM cards.

Meanwhile, security forces also apprehended two active cadres of KCP (City Meitei) in separate operations. Laishram Suranjoy Meitei alias Thoi (28) was arrested from Lairenkabi Mamang Leikai under Lamshang Police Station, while Phijam Athailu Meitei (26) of Sekta Mayai Leikai, Imphal East, was caught at Khabam Chumbreithong. Two mobile phones were seized from them.
