SENAPATI, March 6: A joint operation by Security Forces and the Forest Division led to the destruction of 50 acres of illegal poppy cultivation in Tengnoupal and Kangpokpi districts of Manipur on Wednesday, March 5.
In Tengnoupal, under the supervision of the Tengnoupal Police Station, the operation targeted a hill range in Loikong, where the team successfully eradicated poppy crops spread over 40 acres. A regular case has been registered for further investigation into the illegal cultivation.
In a separate operation in Kangpokpi District, another joint team from the Security Forces and the Forest Division carried out a crackdown at Kotzim. This operation led to the destruction of illegal poppy cultivation across 10 acres, along with the demolition of three farm huts used for poppy farming. Fertilizers and chemicals used by the cultivators were also destroyed on-site. A regular case has been filed for investigation into this incident as well.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug production and trafficking in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigations to address the issue and ensure stricter enforcement of the law.
