Security Forces Seize Extensive Arms Cache in Manipur

Imphal, Sept 26:  In recent operations aimed at bolstering security across Manipur’s hill and valley regions, security forces have successfully recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition. These actions are part of a concerted effort to stabilize the area and address ongoing security concerns.

In Churachandpur District, a joint operation by the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and Manipur Police led to the seizure of two large, home-made mortars (Pompis) and two No. 80 grenades in Nalon.

In a separate operation at Tekcham Maning Ching in Thoubal District, a combined team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police uncovered a significant cache of weaponry and explosives. This haul included one 7.62mm Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with an empty magazine, two sub-machine gun (SMG) carbines with magazines, one .32 caliber pistol with an empty magazine, one 9mm pistol with an empty magazine, one 51mm para bomb, four HE-36 hand grenades (without detonators), two tube launchers, two electronic detonators, five STARDYNE-90 explosives (125 grams each), twelve live ammunition rounds, a stun grenade, a stinger grenade, two 38mm rubber bullets, three tear smoke shells, one dummy shell, a stun shell, two tear smoke shell soft noses, a tear smoke shell (LR), and one Baofeng set.

Furthermore, the security forces have ensured the smooth movement of 95 and 303 vehicles carrying essential supplies along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively. They have set up 109 checkpoints across Manipur to enforce security and prevent violations, with no arrests reported at these locations.
