Senapati, September 19: In a major anti-narcotics operation, a team of the SOT Senapati intercepted a Bolero vehicle and seized a large quantity of suspected brown sugar early Friday morning.
According to police sources, the operation took place today at around 7:30 AM, when a Bolero bearing registration number NL 01P 6327 was stopped for frisking and checking at Khongnem Thana. On thorough checking, soap cases containing suspected brown sugar were found hidden inside the left body compartment of the vehicle.
Following the recovery, the Deputy Commissioner, Senapati was immediately intimated to depute an Executive Magistrate. Subsequently, at around 11:40 AM, the contraband items were formally seized and the accused was arrested in the presence of Shri Panii James, SDO/SDM Lairouching, while observing all required legal formalities.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mr. Dahrii Happymas (28), son of Dahrii, a resident of Laii village under PS Tungjoy, Senapati District.
The following items were seized from the accused:
- 37 soap cases of suspected brown sugar weighing 450 grams (including the weight of the plastic bag)
- One Bolero vehicle (dark green) bearing registration number NL 01P 6327
- One mobile phone (CELLECOR brand)
The arrested person along with the seized items has been handed over to Senapati Police Station, and a case has been registered for further investigation.
