SENAPATI, Dec 23: In the wake of an incident on December 22 at the Gamgiphai Check Post, where officials from the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) were allegedly assaulted, the newly formed Senapati Action Committee (SAC) has issued a stern ultimatum to the Kuki community. The SAC has demanded that members of the Kuki community immediately refrain from traveling and residing within the vicinity of Naga inhabited areas of Senapati district.

The SAC was established after the physical assault on the President, Vice-President, and General Secretary of the SDSA. The SAC expressed dissatisfaction over repeated incidents of physical and mental harassment against its citizens, citing the attack on the SDSA officials as the tipping point.

In a press release, the SAC demanded that authorities immediately apprehend and present the individuals responsible for the December 22 attack before the committee for further action. The SAC warned that failure to comply with their demands would result in further escalations, for which they would not bear responsibility.

The SAC’s directive prohibits members of the Kuki community from traveling through or residing in Naga-inhabited areas of Senapati district until the issue is amicably resolved. This directive is effective immediately.

The SAC claimed that the attack on the SDSA officials by alleged Kuki volunteers violated the Memorandum of Understanding signed on November 21, 2024, between the Naga People’s Organization (NPO) and the Committee of Tribal Unity (CoTU). The MoU was aimed at fostering peace and cooperation between the communities.

In response to the incident, the SDSA convened an emergency meeting and unanimously formed the SAC to seek justice for what they termed as atrocities committed against their executives. The SAC has placed full responsibility for the incident and its potential consequences on CoTU.
