SENAPATI, May 16: As part of a nationwide civil defence preparedness initiative under the Civil Defence Rules, 1968, the District Administration of Senapati successfully conducted a comprehensive mock drill today under the banner of “Operation Abhyaas” at the Mini Secretariat Complex.
The mock drill commenced at 10:30 AM in the presence of key district officials, including Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar, IPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rang David Kung, MCS, CEO/ADC Adahrii Maheo, MCS, Project Director DRDA P. P. Ronald, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officers, District Level Officers (DLOs), and security commanders from CRPF and 16 Company of the Assam Rifles.
Key activities during the exercise featured air raid sirens, police vehicle announcements, fire engine alerts, blackout simulations, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation from simulated collapsed structures, emergency medical responses using a temporary hospital setup, evacuation of civilians to designated bunkers, and civil defence safety training for the general public.
The primary objective of the drill was to assess the district’s level of preparedness in the event of a hostile attack and to ensure that civil defence protocols are thoroughly understood and efficiently implemented during emergency situations.
Throughout the simulation, police and security personnel encouraged participants to remain calm and cooperative, emphasizing that the exercise was designed to improve public awareness and overall safety. Officials demonstrated key survival techniques and safety procedures necessary during such emergencies.
Approximately 500 individuals actively took part in the mock drill. Participants included personnel from the Police, CRPF, Assam Rifles, Medical Department, MSPDCL, SDOs, DLOs, along with enthusiastic volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society, NSS of St. Xavier College, NCC of Mt. Everest College, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), and TNK youth.
