Senapati DC Leads Sardar @150 Padyatra–Unity March

SENAPATI, Nov 11 (DIPR): In commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Mamoni Doley, IAS, led the ‘Sardar @150’ Padyatra–Unity March from the DC’s Office Complex, Senapati, to the “I Love Senapati” point near the old DC Office.

The event was organised by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), Senapati, in collaboration with the District Youth Affairs and Sports Office and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell. Around 300 people took part in the march.

The programme began with floral tributes and candle lighting before the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, honouring his unwavering commitment to national integrity, good governance, and public service.

Addressing the gathering, DC Mamoni Doley expressed her gladness to lead the padyatra on the occasion of Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. She urged everyone to follow the ideals of unity, integrity, and discipline exemplified by the Iron Man of India. Highlighting Patel’s role in uniting the nation during and after the freedom struggle, she called upon the diverse communities of Senapati to set aside differences and work together for an inclusive, progressive, and peaceful district and state.

W. Paulina Monsang, Deputy Director of MY Bharat, Senapati, in her welcome address, stressed the significance of the event and announced that another Unity March will be held at Maram on November 14 as part of the ongoing celebration. She also mentioned that 150 youths from Manipur will be selected to participate in the Nationwide Unity March in Delhi.

Dr. Prasanta Leichombam, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at Mt. Pisgah College, TNK, Senapati, delivered a talk on the life and philosophy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, elaborating on his contribution to India’s freedom movements such as the Non-Cooperation, Civil Disobedience, and Quit India Movements.

As part of the event, DC Mamoni Doley administered the Aatmanirbhar pledge to the participants and distributed sports kits to 11 youth and students’ organisations from different localities including TNK, Emesiipfro, Taphou Onaeme, RTYSO, Quarter Colony, Maram Centre, Pouna Colony, Zaikarii, Makeng Chajing, Angkailongdi, and Katomai.

The programme was attended by S. Plim Reikheinamai, MCS, AC to DC; Ngaonii Panii, SDC, Senapati; district-level officers; N. Benjamin Tao, President of Bharatiya Christian Manch, Manipur State; Thaikho Peter, President of Senapati District Manipur Pradesh; along with NSS volunteers and teachers.
