Senapati, Sept 20: The Senapati District Police conducted an eviction drive at Mt Everest Parking Area on Thursday, following orders from the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), aimed at removing illegal encroachments along National Highway-02.
The operation was led by SDO S. Lunguiba Thangal, following directives to clear unauthorized structures and materials obstructing the highway from Taphou Liangmai to Karong.
The drive was initiated after orders from the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, based on an inspection report that identified the need for action against encroachments along the highway. The police, accompanied by a mobile van with a public address system, issued final warnings before commencing the removal of the illegal structures.
Sub-Deputy Collector Shri Ch. Neli supervised the operation, ensuring that the eviction proceeded smoothly and effectively. The drive, conducted in coordination with Senapati district police, highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain the safety and accessibility of NH-02, a crucial route for the region.
