Senapati: Drug Peddler Arrested with 2.2 Kg of Amphetamine Tablets

Senapati, August 27: A joint operation by the Mao PS team, SOT Senapati, A-109 Battalion of CRPF, and B-Coy 16 Assam Rifles at Martyrs Park, approximately 2 km south of Mao PS, led to the arrest of a drug peddler carrying a large quantity of suspected Amphetamine tablets on Wednesday.

At around 1:30 PM, a white Winger vehicle (Regn. No. AR-01L-5938) traveling from Imphal towards Dimapur along NH-2 was stopped by the joint team for random frisking and checking. During the inspection, Md. Yunush Khan (31), son of Md. Shahbuddin of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai, P.S Mayang, Thoubal District, Manipur, was found behaving suspiciously. On questioning, he admitted to possessing illegal W.Y. (Amphetamine) tablets tied to his thighs with anklets.

The ADM/Mao, Shri Rang David Kung (Executive Magistrate), was informed and authorized the search procedures. Md. Yunush Khan was checked in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, the police team, and the Winger’s driver as a witness. Upon searching his body, authorities recovered 92 plastic packets of suspected W.Y. (Amphetamine) tablets.The consignment was weighed using a weighing machine with video documentation as per BNSS guidelines in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and the driver. The total weight of the seized tablets, including the plastic packets, was 2.202 kilograms.

Md. Yunush Khan has been arrested, and the contraband has been seized. A case has been registered at Mao PS under the relevant sections of the ND&PS Act for further investigation.
