Senapati, September 3: In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, a combined team of Tadubi PS, Senapati and the 16 Assam Rifles apprehended five individuals, including a woman, and seized a large quantity of contraband in the early hours of Wednesday.
The operation was carried out at around 1:30 AM at the Tadubi PS checkpost along NH-2, where two white Gypsy vehicles were intercepted. Upon inspection, security personnel discovered 187 soap cases of brown sugar weighing 2.057 kgs, concealed in the rooftops of the vehicles.
The seizure and arrests were conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, following all legal formalities.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:
- Mr. Azhanii Amos (35), son of (L) Lohrii, resident of Tunggam village, PS Tungjoy, Senapati District.
- Mr. Pavei Peter (25), resident of Tunggam village, PS Tungjoy, Senapati District.
- Mr. Pfokrehrii (35), son of (L) Akho, resident of Makhan Khuman village, PO/PS Maram, Senapati District.
- Mr. Trioa Sebastian (25), son of (L) Sheba, resident of Tunggam village, PS Tungjoy, Senapati District.
- Mrs. K. Athini Sarah (43), wife of Ch. Loli, resident of Makhrelui village, PO/PS Senapati.
In addition to the narcotics, two Gypsy vehicles with registration numbers NL-06-C-1733 and NL-06-C-0001, as well as five mobile phones, were seized.
A case has been registered at Tadubi Police Station under the relevant sections of the ND&PS Act, and investigations are currently underway.
