SENAPATI, Oct 28: Senapati District Headquarter is abuzz with activity and anticipation as preparations intensify for the historic civic reception of Th. Muivah, Ato Kilonser of the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN), scheduled to take place tomorrow. The grand civic reception, jointly organized by the United Naga Council (UNC) and hosted by the Naga People’s Organization (NPO), will be held at Senapati Stadium.

The district headquarters has been transformed with decorations, traditional displays, and welcome banners adorning major routes. In honour of the visit, the UNC has announced a “Genna” — a complete suspension of all commercial and economic activities — urging all Naga communities to join in the event as a show of unity and solidarity.

According to UNC, thousands of participants from across Naga-inhabited areas are expected to attend. The day’s programme will begin with a ceremonial reception at the helipad, where Th. Muivah will be welcomed by UNC officials, tribe hoho presidents, and representatives from various organizations including ANSAM, NWU, and NSCN. A human chain of well-wishers representing different communities will line the route from the helipad to the venue, accompanied by traditional chants, folk music, and an escort by the Royal Brothers Motorcycle Club.

UNC President Ng. Lorho stated that all frontal organizations are working tirelessly to ensure the event’s success. He called upon the public to make the occasion peaceful and memorable, emphasizing cooperation to maintain discipline and order throughout the programme.

Earlier, the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has enforced a strict observance of Genna across Senapati District. As per its directive, all government and private institutions, including banks, will remain closed. Business operations, transport services, and agricultural work will be suspended for the day, except for essential household cooking. Vehicle movement will be restricted to those carrying valid car passes for the programme, while emergency and essential services such as medical aid, fire response, media, and power supply are exempted.

Meanwhile, the Senapati District Administration has issued a detailed traffic advisory to manage the expected influx of visitors. Vehicular movement and parking will be prohibited from the helipad to the venue, and the Senapati town main market has been declared a “No Parking Zone.” Movement of heavy vehicles will be temporarily halted at Mao Gate and Hengbung between 6 AM and 2 PM. Only vehicles with car passes or those using the designated shuttle services will be allowed entry into the town.

The UNC, in its public invitation, called upon all Naga communities to attend the event, describing it as a symbol of unity and collective aspiration for self-determination based on the Naga people’s unique history and identity. It expressed hope that the reception will inspire renewed solidarity, peace, and progress across Naga territories.
