Senapati, October 23: A combined team of Senapati Police conducted a comprehensive survey on illicit poppy cultivation at Sadim Lizai and nearby areas on October 22, 2025, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
The operation was led by Theingam Thangal, SDPO-Senapati, under the overall supervision of Shri SM Zaib Zakir, IPS, SP Senapati, and included the participation of the SPT-PS team, SOT team, and one Forest Department official who assisted with drone mapping.
During the extensive survey, poppy plantations were confirmed, with plants measuring 2–3 inches in height, spread across an area of approximately 5 hectares. The team also discovered around six houses near the plantation site, although no individuals were present during the operation.
Authorities have issued a strict warning to persons from Sadim Lizai village, directing them to identify the cultivators or owners of the poppy fields and to ensure immediate destruction of the illicit crop.
Reiterating its firm commitment, the Senapati District Police stated that it remains steadfast in its mission to curb illegal drug cultivation and to promote the vision of a Drug-Free Manipur.
