Senapati Observes World TB Day, Free Advanced TB Testing Available

SENAPATI, April 10: The District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC), under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), marked the 44th World TB Day today by organizing a district-level observance at the DRDA Conference Hall in Senapati. Held under the global theme “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver,” the event aimed to spread awareness and highlight progress in the fight against tuberculosis.

District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) Dr. L. Muanching announced that advanced diagnostic facilities including NAAT molecular testing, Truenat machines, and digital X-ray services are available free of cost in Senapati. She acknowledged the district’s significant achievements in reducing TB cases and deaths, crediting the combined efforts of political leaders, government officials, NGOs, and local volunteers.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sumpi Percy, who delivered the keynote address, underlined the importance of building strong immunity, particularly among diabetic patients and individuals with tobacco or alcohol habits, in preventing TB. She praised the DTC team for their consistent commitment and outreach.

A presentation by Dr. S. Losica RK, MOTC, offered a comprehensive look into TB awareness initiatives and the district’s response strategies. Meanwhile, TB Champion Kh. Danii shared a powerful personal testimony of his journey with tuberculosis, underscoring the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.

To honor dedicated contributors in the fight against TB, the DTC distributed mementoes and certificates to six Nikshay Mitras, ten TB Warriors, and 327 volunteers. Additionally, ten food baskets were donated to TB patients as part of the support initiative.

The programme witnessed participation from ADC Senapati CEO Adahrii Maheo, district-level officers, healthcare staff, civil society organizations, and youth volunteers.
