Senapati, August 7: In a concerted effort to curb the presence of illegal immigrants and foreign nationals without valid documentation, the Senapati District Police has launched a special district-wide verification drive. Initiated last week, the drive has already resulted in the verification of 2,412 individuals across various regions of the district.

According to an press note issued on Wednesday, 170 individuals were found without Inner Line Permits (ILP), while 134 were carrying expired ILPs. All defaulters were taken to the Mao Gate ILP counter to regularize their documents. However, no illegal immigrants have been detected so far during the course of the operation.
The drive, spearheaded by the District Task Force, has been conducted in market areas, along National Highway-2, the Maram-Peren and Tadubi-Tolloi roads, and several inter-village routes falling under various police station jurisdictions. In addition, strict checks are being enforced at all border entry points to prevent illegal entry into the district.

Authorities have confirmed that the special verification initiative will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance and maintain security across Senapati district.
