Senapati, October 18: The body of an 18-year-old student, R. Bovei, son of Mr. Romeo from Mahika Tungjoy Village, was recovered on Saturday after he drowned in the Barak River earlier in the day.

According to reports, the recovery operation was carried out by Khabung Karong villagers with the assistance of volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati Branch. The deceased was a Class 12 student of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram Khunou.

Following the retrieval, the body was transported to his native village by a Red Cross ambulance for completion of formalities and the last rites.
