Senapati, August 9: A tragic accident occurred at Ndaure, Zenamyi Village (Maram-Peren Road) when a truck overturned, resulting in the death of the driver. The driver, a member of the Nepali community, was one of the two occupants involved in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle ran over a duck, and in an attempt to escape, the driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn at a turning. The villagers and surrounding residents promptly assisted in transporting the injured and deceased.
The police from Willong station are expected to arrive soon to investigate the incident.
Mention may be made that, many incidents had happened in the past in Maram-Peren Road which highlights the importance of cautious driving, even on good road conditions. Drivers and travellers are advised to drive at permitted speeds, especially in village areas, to prevent such accidents.
