Six KCP Cadres Arrested in Imphal West, Two G5 Members Apprehended for Extortion

IMPHAL, Feb 22: Security operations led to the arrest of six cadres from the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (Ibungo Ngangom) faction in Koutruk Makha Leikai Churrh, under Lamshang Police Station in Imphal West District. The arrested individuals have been identified as:

  • Shirimayum Suraj Sharma alias Lion (21)
  • Nutum Leishemba alias Pari (25)
  • Ningthoukhongjam Khedasana alias Naoba (29)
  • Senjam Yaiphaba alias Malan (19)
  • Laishram Leishemba alias Malem (26)
  • Laishram Kenedy alias Thouna (32)

These individuals were apprehended as part of ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities in the region.

Additionally, security forces apprehended two active members of the G5 Organization in Imphal East District for their involvement in extorting truck drivers transporting sand in the Sekmai, Irilbung, Koirengei, and Patsoi areas. The arrested individuals, Ningthoujam Yamba Singh (43) and Usham Netaji Singh (35), were found in possession of a four-wheeler, mobile phones, wallets, identity documents, and cash.

To ensure the smooth and uninterrupted movement of essential goods, authorities facilitated the passage of 369 vehicles along National Highway NH-2 and 225 vehicles along NH-37, both under strict security escorts. In addition, a total of 110 checkpoints were set up across various districts, and security inspections ensured that no violations were recorded.
