Guwahati/Tamenglong, August 10: In a deeply saddening turn of events, Ringkhuanlung John Mpamei passed away at 7:30 am this morning at Guwahati, following a stroke he suffered a few days ago.
Mpamei had recently returned from Qatar, where he had been residing, to visit his family in Tamenglong. On their way back, the family made a short stop in Guwahati a visit that unexpectedly became his final days.
Today’s tragedy coincides with Music Sunday at the Tamenglong Baptist Church, a day traditionally marked by joyful worship and song. In a moving tribute, his younger brother, Jinbuiyang, has announced that he will join the church’s Music Team to perform the “Hallelujah Chorus” in his memory. The team will use one of the violins purchased by Mpamei, allowing his love for music to resonate once more within the congregation.
Friends and community members remember Mpamei as a warm, generous, and humble man whose quiet acts of kindness left a lasting impact. His sudden passing has left Tamenglong and those who knew him in shock and grief.
A funeral service will be announced by the family in due course. Meanwhile, the community prepares to come together in both sorrow and song, ensuring that Mpamei’s life and legacy will not be forgotten.
