Team YR4C Flags Serious Lapses in JJM Works at Willong Khullen

SENAPATI, Nov 22: A field inspection carried out by Team YR4C at Willong Khullen has exposed troubling irregularities in the ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) project, which began in 2022 and remains incomplete to this day.

During the visit, the team briefed villagers on corruption in general and highlighted concerns surrounding the JJM scam. They also shared details of the total sanctioned amount and the payments released so far, information that many villagers said they were hearing for the first time.

One of the most striking findings was the unused GI pipes supplied under the project. Instead of being installed to connect the main reservoirs to the distributor tanks, many of these pipes were found lying untouched in front of several houses. Village authorities claimed that some pipes had been used while others were still pending installation, but the ground reality suggested a lack of progress and clarity.

Team YR4C further noted that the distributor tanks built at various locations were compromised in both size and standard, with some measuring barely 6 feet in height and around 4 feet in length or even less. Adding to the concern, cheap rubber pipes were fitted to supply water from these tanks to households, raising questions about durability and safety.

The villagers and local authorities appeared largely unaware of the project’s specifications, fund flow, and execution status, reflecting a deep communication gap and lack of transparency. Team YR4C urged the PHED, the implementing agency, and the contractors to immediately address the discrepancies and restore accountability.

The inspection makes it evident that there has been serious misappropriation and misuse of JJM funds in Willong Khullen.
