Senapati, July 18: The Thadou Tribe Council (TTC) has appealed the United Naga Council (UNC) to advise the Joint Tribe Council (JTC), representing the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zemei tribes, not to interfere in matters related to the Churachandpur (Songpi) – Kangpokpi (Kanggui) Connectivity Road.

In a letter addressed to the UNC President, the TTC expressed concern over repeated disturbances by what it termed “evil-minded mischievous individuals,” which had necessitated the formulation of a longer alternative route to bypass all JTC areas to maintain peace and avoid disturbing their respective atmospheres.

“The proposed bypass route takes a very long route so as to avade all JTC Areas and pass through only our blood brother Chirus land,” the TTC stated.

“However, it is very unfortunate that the JTC’s Memo Vide. No. Nill. JTC/MSC/2025-1, dated, the 15 July, 2025 addressed to your esteemed office portraying the ‘Kukis as Encroaching Naga Ancestral Land’ where triple times is invested to avade all their areas to pass through only our blood brother Chiru Khoirou/ Dolang Khunou Village,” the letter further read.

The Thadou Tribe Council called on the UNC to advise the JTC not to meedle in matter where they have no legal authority and give bad name to Naga as well as Christianity.

The letter concluded with a hopeful note that the UNC’s leadership would “give peace a chance to live and let live as fellow Tribals and fellow Christians.”
