Shillong, October 16: In a major boost to tourism and international collaboration, the Emerging North-East Eco Forum (ENEEF), in partnership with the Government of Meghalaya and a high-level Thai delegation, organised a special Tourism Promotion Event in Shillong on October 14.
The event, hosted by the Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, was graced by the Governor of Meghalaya and Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, reflecting the state’s growing commitment to fostering sustainable and global tourism partnerships.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Thanathip Upatasing, Ambassador of Thailand to India, expressed Thailand’s strong interest in strengthening tourism linkages with Meghalaya. He announced that Thailand plans to launch direct charter flight services to Meghalaya by December 2025, marking a significant milestone in improving regional connectivity and enhancing cultural exchange between the two regions.
The discussions during the event focused on sustainable tourism, eco-cultural cooperation, and joint promotional initiatives aimed at showcasing Meghalaya’s rich natural beauty and cultural heritage to international travellers.
Representatives from ENEEF reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating dialogue and partnerships that promote inclusive and eco-friendly development across Northeast India. They also extended gratitude to the Government of Meghalaya, the Department of Tourism, and the Thai delegation for their shared vision in advancing meaningful international tourism collaboration rooted in sustainability and mutual growth.
