Paomata, Sept 5: The Senapati Forest Division has launched a three-day awareness-cum-training program on the Promotion of Eco-Tourism at Senapati District under the Raising & Accelerating MSME Performances (RAMP) Scheme.
The program concluded on September 4 at Tunggam Khullen Village, with a strong focus on skill-building, rural heritage, and eco-tourism development. About 50 youth from Khumai Youth & Student’s Organization attended the three days training program and skill acquired certificates were awarded to keen trainees in various skill sets.
The inaugural session featured a welcome address by Benjamin Ziipoa, RFO Liyai Khunou, followed by a keynote address delivered by S.R. Marson Anal, ACF Senapati. The day was marked by practical training sessions on jewelry making by artisan Kaisa Karen Loli, bamboo handicraft by craftsman D. Traole, and woodcraft by Lucky Pao.
On the following day, participants undergo training on nature camp management by Royal Brothers, and a session on Photography and Digital Marketing by Mashangva Somi, a Master Trainer in Photography. Later, Ngaorai Ng, founder of Tsiibe Foundation, speaks on Rural Heritage and Eco-tourism. The day will conclude with a vote of thanks by Traole Rai, President of KYSO cum Hills Eco Adventure Tourism, Manipur.
The program aims to empower local communities by providing hands-on training and knowledge essential for sustainable tourism practices. It highlights the role of eco-tourism in preserving natural heritage while creating livelihood opportunities for rural artisans and entrepreneurs.
The initiative is expected to boost eco-friendly tourism in Senapati district, especially Khumai Dziiduri Eco-Tourism prospect positioning it as a model for community-led conservation and sustainable development in the region.
