New Delhi, August 4: In a disturbing incident that has raised fresh concerns over the safety of Northeast students in the capital, the Delhi Police have arrested two men and apprehended a juvenile in connection with a knife attack on two students from Manipur in the Vijay Nagar area.
The victims, identified as Zerry and Shepherd, were reportedly attacked around 4 a.m. on July 31 while purchasing water from a local shop. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh, the students were accosted by four bike-borne men, one of whom stabbed Zerry in the abdomen and Shepherd in the back.
Both victims were rushed to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital with serious injuries by a friend who was nearby at the time of the attack.
A case was registered at Model Town Police Station, and an investigation was promptly launched. Through an extensive probe involving CCTV footage analysis and call record tracking, police identified and arrested two suspects — Krishna and Krishna Kashyap — and apprehended a juvenile accomplice. The DCP confirmed that none of the arrested individuals have a prior criminal record.
“During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the assault,” said DCP Singh. He added that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fourth suspect who remains at large.
