IMPHAL, Dec 3: Security forces in Manipur conducted a series of coordinated counter-insurgency operations over the past two days, arresting three cadres belonging to different banned underground groups, officials said on Wednesday. The arrests are part of an intensified crackdown on extortion networks and militant activities across the state.
On December 2, troops apprehended Laishram Pronanjit Singh (25), an alleged extortion operative of the UNLF (K), from Uripok Yambem Leikai in Imphal West. A mobile phone suspected to have been used for coordinating extortion calls was seized from his possession.

A day earlier, on December 1, security personnel in Kakching district arrested Thounaojam Subhashchandra Meitei, an active member of the RPF/PLA, from Waikhong Kangsam Leikai. A mobile phone was recovered during the operation.
In another operation the same day, forces detained Thounaojam Yaima Meitei (40), described as an active cadre of the KCP (PWG), from Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai in Imphal West. Police recovered a mobile phone and a SIM card from him.
