Three KCP Militants Arrested for Threatening to Bomb Sangai Tourism Festival

IMPHAL, Nov 27: Security forces arrested three militants including a woman belonging to a proscribed outfit for alleged involvement in a threatening video to bomb annual Sangai tourism festival, police said on Thursday.

Police, in a statement, said “in a follow up investigation of a threat video posted on Facebook by a user named ‘Metei Lanmi Naotyboy’ on 21.11.2025 regarding bombing the Sangai Festival 2025, Manipur Police along with Assam Rifles conducted an operation and arrested three active cadres of KCP (MFL) who were involved in the incident.”

The arrested woman has been identified as Laishram Sonia Devi (31) who was arrested from her residence at Okram Chuthek in Imphal East district. She has been in involved in extortion activities as well. The others are identified as Salam Luwangnganba Meetei (22) and Phamdom Phampok Meitei (29). Phamdom was involved in plans to hurl grenades at the ongoing Sangai Festival 2025.

Further investigation is underway, police said.

Sangai festival is being held from November 21 to November 30. The festival has been boycotted by displaced persons and civil society organisations which claimed the state government is trying to portray an image of normalcy in the state without resolving the issues of IDPs and the ethnic conflict.
