Imphal, July 26: In a coordinated crackdown on insurgent activities, security forces apprehended three active cadres of banned militant groups Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) in separate operations conducted on July 24 and 25 across Imphal West and Thoubal districts.
On July 24, a KCP (PWG) operative, Sorokhaibam Inaocha Singh alias Romesh (47), was arrested from his residence in Salam Mamang Leikai under Patsoi Police Station, Imphal West. Authorities allege his involvement in organized extortion campaigns. Items recovered from him include three mobile phones, a PAN card, five extortion notes bearing the KCP (PWG) letterhead, and two official seal stamps marked “KCP (PWG)” and “Revenue Officer (RO)”.

A day later, on July 25, a female cadre of RPF/PLA, Oinam Ranjita Devi alias Erai Leima (38), was taken into custody from her home in Oinam Sawombung Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district. According to intelligence inputs, she was extorting money from educational institutions, school transport groups, local businesses, and shopkeepers in the valley. Security forces seized three mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and various documents, including notepads listing the names and contacts of her alleged victims.
Later the same day, another RPF/PLA member, Ahanthem Surjit Singh (29) of Wangjing SK Leikai, was arrested from Leirongthel Pitra under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station in Thoubal. He is accused of conducting extortion, recruiting new cadres, and threatening residents and business owners.
All three suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated to uncover further links to extortion rackets and recruitment activities tied to the proscribed militant outfits.
