Imphal, October 15: In a major counter-insurgency success, security forces in Manipur arrested three active militants belonging to different banned outfits during coordinated operations conducted across the state.
According to official sources, an active cadre of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF-K), identified as Bicky Sagolsem (29) of Singjamei Wangma Bheigabati Leikai, Imphal West, was apprehended from Muslim Basti, Moreh, under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district.

In a separate operation, security forces arrested Haobam Malemnganba Singh alias KGF (25), an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Apunba), from Lamphel Super Market under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West. Singh was allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting the public. A mobile phone and a TVS Jupiter scooter (registration number MN01U 1711) were recovered from his possession.
Meanwhile, another team apprehended Wangkheirakpam Romeo Meitei alias Baruni alias Koubru (45), an active cadre of the KCP (PWG), from his residence at Top Makha Leikai, Imphal East, under Porompat Police Station. He was reportedly engaged in extortion from brick kilns and the local populace in the valley areas. A mobile phone was seized during the raid.
All three arrested militants have been handed over to the respective police stations for further investigation and legal proceedings.
