Imphal, July 23: Manipur Police on July 22 apprehended three active cadres of the banned militant outfit PREPAK (Pro) from Imphal West district. The arrests are being viewed as a notable breakthrough in the state’s ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities.
The operation began with the arrest of Wangkhem Amarjit Meitei, 31, alias Tang/Lamyanba, from Chingmeirong Maning Leikai under Lamphel Police Station. Acting on leads obtained during his interrogation, the police swiftly tracked down two more suspected operatives from the same outfit.
The additional suspects were identified as Laishram Pangamba Meitei, 31, alias Mexico, a resident of Haorang Keirel Makha Leikai, and Khangenbam Ricky Meitei, 27, alias Yaiphaba, from Lamshang Taothong Ayungba Mamang Leikai. Both were arrested from their respective residences under Lamshang Police Station jurisdiction.
Authorities recovered two mobile phones and three wallets during the coordinated operations.
