TAMENGLONG, Nov 26:   Four student organizations from Tousem Sub-Division have called on the District Administration of Tamenglong to relocate the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Office to its designated location in Tousem by December 1, 2024.

In a joint statement released today, the Zeme Students’ Organisation Manipur, Tousem Headquarters Students’ Union, Tousem Area Students’ Organisation, and Chramram Segment Voice, highlighted that their representatives met with the District Magistrate of Tamenglong on November 25, 2024, to address the expiration of an agreement signed on September 26, 2024. The agreement aimed to establish the SDO Office at Tousem but had lapsed without fulfillment.

During the meeting, the student bodies formally informed the District Magistrate about the agreement’s expiration. Following discussions, both parties agreed on a timeframe for action. The District Administration committed to ensuring the relocation of the SDO Office to Tousem by December 1, 2024, with operations expected to commence on December 2, 2024.

The student organizations emphasized the importance of fulfilling this demand promptly. They cautioned that any failure to meet the December 1 deadline would leave them with no choice but to initiate democratic protests to safeguard the rights and interests of the local communities.

“We remain hopeful that the District Administration will collaborate with us to resolve this matter amicably and without delay,” they stated.
