AGARTALA, Mar 1: In a violent clash on February 28, a Bangladeshi smuggler was killed after a group of 20 to 25 Bangladeshi miscreants intruded into Indian territory in Tripura’s Sepahijala district. The group, involved in smuggling activities with the help of Indian collaborators, crossed the border at around 7:30 pm near BP Ref-2050/7-S, located in the area of BOP Putia.
The intrusion was met with immediate intervention by a Border Security Force (BSF) patrol party, which warned the intruders. However, the miscreants attacked the BSF personnel, leaving one jawan with serious injuries. The injured BSF jawan was quickly hospitalized and is currently undergoing treatment.
The situation escalated when the miscreants launched a second attack, attempting to snatch weapons from the BSF personnel. In an act of self-defense, one of the BSF jawans fired a round from a PAG (non-lethal) weapon. This action resulted in a Bangladeshi national being injured, and he later succumbed to his injuries and died.
Further details about the incident are still being investigated, and authorities are continuing to gather information.
