PAOMATA, April 1: The Tunggam Women Village Level Federation (VLF) celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of its office and the commencement of a loan disbursement program. With the motto: ‘Women: The heart of progress.’ The event was held at DRDA Hall, Paomata, marking a new chapter in women’s empowerment and financial independence under the aegis of the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM).
The programme commenced with an opening prayer led by Kh Hriiniirou, followed by a welcome address by Roveine, Secretary of Khudu VLF. A soulful welcome song was presented by members of Southra VLF, setting a warm and inspiring tone for the event.
The gathering was graced by Chief Guest Hrangao Rozhemai, Assistant Public Prosecutor, and Guest of Honour P Dahril, Secretary of the Khumai Union. Viesho, DMIC Senapati District In-charge of MSRLM, Dept. of RD & PR and M Vasone DAA also delivered a short speech emphasizing the importance of community-led financial initiatives in rural development. The event also saw the presence of revenue Chairman and secretaries of Afii, Makhufii, Paomata Centre, Youth leaders and well wishers as well. About 400 SHG members attended the program.
The highlight of the event was the loan disbursement segment, disbursing Rs. 68,70,000 to 42 SHGs groups out of 45 SHG groups. The remaining 3 SHG groups will receive the loan after finalizing the procedure. A total amount of Rs. 82,25,000 have been received so far by the SHG groups. The mission aimed at fostering self-reliance among women entrepreneurs. This initiative is expected to provide much-needed financial support for small businesses and self-help groups in the region.
A special song by Soumava VLF members added a celebratory touch to the occasion before the Chief Guest took the stage to deliver his address. In his speech, Hrangao Rozhemai lauded the efforts of the Tunggam Women VLF in empowering local women through financial literacy and economic opportunities.
Therou, Secretary of Soumava VLF, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the collective efforts of all participants in making the event a success. The program concluded with a closing prayer led by Th Esther, Chairperson of Soumava VLF.
With this initiative, the Tunggam Women VLF has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering economic independence for women in the region. The newly inaugurated office will serve as a hub for financial assistance, skill development, and entrepreneurship, paving the way for a more empowered and self-sufficient community.
