Imphal, October 22: Two cadres of a “Myanmar-based” outfit have been apprehended by Assam Rifles in Manipur’s Chandel District, a statement from the paramilitary force said on Wednesday.
The two cadres were arrested on October 18 last near Sajik Tampak in Chandel district which shares border with Myanmar.
The cadres have been identified to be of United Tribal Volunteers Group, Assam Rifles said.
The paramilitary force said “acting on specific intelligence, the operation effectively thwarted an attempt at cross-border militant movement along the Indo–Myanmar frontier.”
The detained cadres have been handed over to Chakpikarong Police for further investigation, it said.
