Senapati, October 21: The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) has accused Indian security forces of carrying out a drone strike on Khenmoi-Loiyi village in the East Konyak Region on the evening of October 20, killing two civilians — a 27-year-old man and an eight-year-old girl and injuring four others.

In a press statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) on Tuesday, the NSCN/GPRN (YA) condemned what it described as a “cowardly Indian drone attack,” calling it a “clear act of genocide against the Naga people.” The outfit alleged that the strike reflected India’s “complete disregard for human life,” and termed the attack a “heinous crime against humanity.”

“This is not an isolated attack or a case of collateral damage. In fact, this is the second deliberate drone attack by the Indian military on Naga civilians this year, following a similar incident on July 13, 2025,” the statement read.

The group claimed that such “irresponsible actions” had made civilians increasingly vulnerable and accused India of turning “enemy of the Naga people.” It further alleged that India’s actions had “degraded herself before the world by exposing her expansionist politics and terrorist mentality.”

Calling upon the international community to take “urgent action” against India, the NSCN/GPRN urged global human rights bodies to hold the Indian government accountable for “crimes against humanity.” The outfit also appealed to Naga civil societies and citizens to “unite in condemning the attack” and reaffirm their commitment to the Naga cause.

“Through collective strength, Nagas will resist India’s domination and exploitation and must never renounce our freedom,” the statement asserted.

The outfit warned that “threatening Naga revolutionaries by killing innocent civilians is not a worthy goal” and cautioned that “if this message is not understood, the intensity of our response will increase and the Government of India will have to pay a heavy price.”

Extending condolences, the NSCN/GPRN conveyed “heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families” and wished a speedy recovery to the injured victims.
