SENAPATI, Nov 15: Two drug traffickers from Assam were arrested in Manipur’s Senapati district for illegal possesion of contraband opium, police said on Saturday.
“In a coordinated early-morning operation on Friday, Manipur police along with CPRF team intercepted a truck during routine frisking” police said.
“Our teams recovered 18.2 kg of suspected opium, cleverly concealed inside the body of the truck” police said.

The vehicle was driven by Raju Ali and accompanied by Aynul Haque, both residents of Kamrup in Assam” police said.
The contraband was seized in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses, police said adding aregular case has been registered at Maram police station under appropriate sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
Police said they remained committed to zero tolerance against drugs and continues to intensify efforts to keep the district safe and drug-free.
