KOHIMA, Nov 22: Amid the continuing unrest in Manipur, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central, led by its Secretary General, held a meeting with representatives of the United Naga Council (UNC) at the NPF Central Office in Kohima on Thursday.

The UNC delegation highlighted the difficulties encountered by the Naga community amid the prolonged violence and praised the NPF’s efforts to mediate between the Meitei and Kuki communities. They urged the party to continue its engagement with the current government to address the crisis effectively, emphasizing that staying involved would yield better outcomes than withdrawal or inaction.

Reiterating a long-standing demand, the UNC called for the rollback of the seven newly created districts in Manipur. They appealed to the NPF for support, particularly in light of the party’s position as a coalition partner in the Manipur Government. The UNC stressed that the NPF’s proactive involvement during this critical time is crucial for addressing the concerns of the Naga people and contributing to a broader resolution of the conflict.
