IMPHAL, Dec 16:   Unidentified armed men on Tuesday night fired several rounds of gunshot in peripheral areas of Bishnupur district, officials said.

Officials said “several rounds of gun firing has been reported near the vicinity of Torbung and Phougakcho Ikhai in Bishnupur district bordering Churachandpur district. We are tryin to determine the source of firing and where it is directed.”

The fresh firing has triggered fear and panic among the locals. 

Additional security forces have been rushed in to control the situation. 

The firing came a day after 389 displaced persons returned to their native homes at Phougakchao Ikhai area.
