New Delhi, Sept 21: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has emphasized the importance of uplifting North Eastern citizens to foster national unity.
During his address at the 7th North East Student Festival (NEST) in New Delhi today, Rijiju noted significant improvements in the recognition and awareness of North Eastern people since 2014. He observed a reduction in discrimination against them in other parts of India.
Rijiju encouraged greater awareness and understanding of citizens from diverse regions within the country. He praised the continued success of the NEST festival, highlighting its role in promoting North Eastern culture.
Additionally, Rijiju supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for peace amid the ongoing protests in Manipur, urging communities to lay down their weapons and strive for unity and harmony. “It is essential to restore peace in Manipur. Both communities must come together through dialogue,” Rijiju stated.
