IMPHAL, Sept 27: The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has denied any involvement in the recent assault on Wilubou Maringmei from Kanglatongbi.
In a statement from M. Shak-Hen, Secretary of Publicity, the UNLF clarified that it had no connection to the incident and condemned the actions of those responsible.
The UNLF expressed concern over a report by the Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi Manipur (LNKRM), which suggested that Maringmei was attacked by individuals posing as UNLF members near the Sekmai LPG Gas Plant. The UNLF condemned this behavior, particularly given the current ethnic tensions in the region, which they attribute to alleged proxy conflicts involving Kuki militants targeting the Meitei community.

The group reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining communal harmony and peaceful coexistence among Manipur’s indigenous communities and stressed that it would not engage in actions that could disrupt ethnic relationships. They also cautioned against individuals, reportedly supported by Indian forces, who are attempting to incite communal discord.
The UNLF urged the Liangmei community, particularly LNKRM, to remain vigilant and unified in response to such provocations, emphasizing the need for solidarity to preserve the social fabric of Manipur.
